IAAS Statement – new Scottish Agriculture Bill Consultation

by | Dec 8, 2022

Following the close of the new Scottish Agriculture Bill Consultation, Neil Wilson, Executive Director of IAAS, said:

“IAAS has submitted a response to the Scottish Government’s Agricultural Consultation which reflects our frustration at the lack of detail and progress on policy development.

“We would much rather have seen a more detailed consultation that could give some direction, in particular, to the livestock sector.

“In relation to auction markets, we have noted that current schemes aimed at the supply chain have tended to exclude our members from applying and we have called for a change in policy to recognise the importance of auction marts to farmers, crofters and the livestock supply chain when developing a vision for the agri-food supply chain.”
